Editorial Policy

At Smokey Cow Publishing we know that connecting the younger generation to nature and agriculture is vitally important to the sustainability of caring for the environment and safe food production. We want to educate children aged 7-11 without harming or confusing them.

Content Goals and Principles

To ensure the safety and welfare of our readers we outline the ethical and editorial standards demonstrated. These policy guidelines are designed to outline the relevant criteria required for content, both through wording and imagery.

Personal Information

 • All personal information collected for subscription purposes will not be revealed to a third party and will be stored confidentially under GDPR rules. This information will only be used for the purpose in which it was sent.

• All information will be stored for as long as it is needed, therefore if a reader unsubscribes all personal data will be destroyed.

• If a child enters a competition, submits a story or photo, we will explain what information is requested and why.

No additional information will be required. The age of consent in Data Protection Law in the UK for processing personal data is 13. This will then include all our targeted readers. Parental consent will be required for subscriptions, competition entries, story and photo submissions.

Content

Smokey Cow Publishing take moderation of content very seriously and do not wish to influence, harm or upset any readers. However, within the content, there may at times be issues that could raise concern to the reader. It is not with any intention that this might happen. Some readers may find the comprehension of understanding controversial talking points difficult, but every effort will be made to discuss clearly and with an open viewpoint.

We will, on occasion, have a freedom of expression to teach value and understanding of intricate issues within the animal world. This will allow the reader to enhance their learning in a pragmatic way.

All content will be factual, fun and engaging and will be reviewed by the editorial team.
